Dear God, I Have Questions

Welcome,

This is a place where I share the questions I have for God, my thought process as I read God’s word, and the beautiful revelations God shares with me on my path with him.

I am a Christian, a mother, an artist, and someone who believes in growth in every area of life, guided by the Holy Spirit. I enjoy reading the word of God daily, creating art, and taking photographs when I can catch a glimpse of the beauty God provides. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Special Education. I have taught students of all ages in Special Education and general education through 6th grade. I have been in the education system for over 15 years, guiding children from preschool through middle school in art, reading/writing, social studies, science, math, and social/emotional skills. My whole life changed within one day in March of 2021 when my body started to shut down. Years later, multiple medical tests and two surgeries later, I have my diagnosis and no cure. All this to say, God Almighty has been with me through it all. He has been my rock, my salvation, and has shown himself to be all-powerful, full of wisdom and glory, Amen!

Walking the narrow path with Jesus, led by his light through the Holy Spirit

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only few find it.”

Artwork and Photographs

I recently put my artwork into an art competition called the People’s Art Contest. I made it to the top 10 in my group of artists. I am so thankful that God gave me the opportunity to share my art because all the art is connected to Him, drawing me back into His arms of salvation, love, and mercy. I will share a little about what God taught me through this impactful journey. As my journey and love for Jesus were growing in 2023, I created an art piece featuring a cross with roses wrapped around it and a lightning bolt, using a photograph of a sunset as the background. You can see the art piece below if you are interested. I was also inspired by the song “Who Am I” by Need to Breathe. The band sings about asking God, “Who am I?” and about how God could love us in all our imperfections. That Jesus could grow His roses on our souls. In creating the art piece, listening to the song, having deep prayer, and reading the word of God, the realization came that Jesus Christ is the only one who can truly love us. Jesus took our imperfections to the cross. From that, I started to see myself as a child of God, even in my mess. The world may reject us in every way, but Jesus Christ will never reject us. We all struggle with different sins, weaknesses, imperfections, and social constructs that define us through cultures, traumas, and expectations imposed by family and friends. These are all boxes people put us in, but God chucks all those boxes out the window and says, “I have made you into a new creation in Christ Jesus!” We are set free by the power of the Holy Spirit and by the word of God daily in our lives. The world tries to make Christianity into this pretty little perfume bottle of sunshine and daisies, but the truth is that we must take up our cross and carry it as well. With that comes transformation that requires blood, sweat, and tears. It is always darkest before the dawn. This is where FAITH in Jesus Christ, HOPE, and endurance come in. We can’t do it alone, so we have to rely on God, fellowship with other believers in Christ, and family. There is also another hope: the glorious day when Jesus returns. He will bring with Him the power to resurrect all believers into glorified bodies. With that, there will no longer be sin, trauma, sickness, or sadness, only perfect peace in Christ Jesus. While we wait for His return, we can have glimpses of that perfect peace when we align our lives with God as best we can for now. My prayer is that you, brother or sister, would experience the perfect love and peace of Christ Jesus while we are still here, and that sharing my art and testimony will stir something inside others to go to God, Amen! Thank you for listening, and peace be with you!

Some Nights

Hi readers! Every so often, I will listen to or come across an old secular song that I used to listen to before I surrendered my whole life to Jesus Christ. When this happens, I pause and look at where I am now compared to who I used to be. It brings me comfort to…

From Dust to Life: God’s Gifts and Human Choices

The same air that comes from Sub-Saharan Africa is the same air that the Texas cowboy breathes. It crosses the Atlantic Ocean, goes through the Gulf of Mexico, and up through Texas. God breathed life into Adam and formed him from dust. The same weather system that pushes through all of America, wetting the landscape,…

I Don’t Understand! Why God?

In Prayer As I sit here, asking and praying to God about all that has happened over the past couple of days in the Middle East, He is putting on my mind that the beginning of Christianity was powerful because they believed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and in him being the Son of…

Does Anyone Hear the Music God Created?

Does Anyone Hear the Music God Created? We worship Him with joyful praise, but does anyone hear the music God created? The sounds of birds chirping with the morning sun.The wind rustling leaves and branches to wake up the rhythm beats. The watery brook clickety, clackety, then a whoosh through the forest. The horse with its welcoming…

Making Disciples in a Distracted World: A Biblical Approach

Jesus did NOT say, “Go wake up people about all the rabbit holes, conspiracy theories, and dirty laundry of every person you feel in your own flesh to reveal.” He said, in Matthew Matthew 28:18-20 NIV[18] Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.…
