Some Nights

Hi readers! Every so often, I will listen to or come across an old secular song that I used to listen to before I surrendered my whole life to Jesus Christ. When this happens, I pause and look at where I am now compared to who I used to be. It brings me comfort to know that Jesus Christ is working in me by His love, peace, and wisdom. I am a new creation in Christ and covered by His love through His sacrifice on the cross. I’m in awe of God and how he has transformed me. It becomes most evident when I come across secular songs that I used to identify with. So, today I want to share with you a song I used to listen to and no longer feel drawn to, for reasons I now fully understand. Let me explain.

The Song and Wars

The song is by the band Fun, called “Some Nights.” Based on the lyrics, I am making an educated guess that it was created to speak out against war. There are many types of wars. Civil wars, revolutionary wars, regime changes, or wars of conquest. What we often fight today as citizens in each of our own countries is the war on our minds, through propaganda, by media, and social media. The last and most important war I have recently started hearing more people speak about is the spiritual war. The spiritual war is the most important war because where you stand with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit will determine everything in the physical. It will determine how you react to wars and rumors of wars, it will determine whose side you take, or if you will take a side at all. It will determine whether your mind falls for the propaganda spewed by each country’s world leaders to sway the masses.

God Calls Us, Don’t Ignore Him

I share this with you because, like I said, the song talks about war, but the songwriter also questions what he stands for and who he is. He cries out Lord! Which Lord, I am not sure. Back when the song came out in 2012, I didn’t know who I was or where I stood in the spiritual war. I didn’t even know there was a spiritual war. By 2015, I started to sense something big was coming, something that would change everything, but I didn’t know what it was. I believe deep down in my soul that it was God calling me to Him. It felt like I needed inspiration or a connection to something beyond space, time, and myself. Sadly, I wasted years rejecting God. It took me getting to the end of myself in 2021 for me to finally surrender everything to God. It has been the best of times with God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit; it has also been the worst of times regarding my health. Though my body is broken, my spirit and soul are saved and strong because I can now stand firm on the testimony of Jesus Christ! He has brought me back to life! I no longer ask, “Who am I, or what do I stand for,” as the song says. I am now a child of God and saved by Jesus Christ. I stand firm on the power and testimony of Jesus Christ!

I say to you today: Is God tugging at you? Is He calling you to Himself? If he is, don’t wait! Today is the day of salvation! The beginning of the best journey you will ever go on!

God bless the reader and much love to all the world!
