Making Disciples in a Distracted World: A Biblical Approach

Jesus did NOT say, “Go wake up people about all the rabbit holes, conspiracy theories, and dirty laundry of every person you feel in your own flesh to reveal.”
He said, in Matthew
Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
[18] Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Therefore go and MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and TEACHING them to OBEY everything I have COMMANDED you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Making Disciples
Making disciples is about reading, learning, and teaching the word of God. It is NOT gathering around to gossip, to put someone who is struggling down, or togo down rabbit holes. If someone is in sin, we are to pray for them, lift them up to Jesus, and gently guide them by understanding the root cause so we can better assist in leading them to Jesus. The church’s current temperament is that of ravenous wolves, looking for the next person to fall and then gossiping about them on social media. At the same time, that person’s whole life has crumbled because they sinned to a degree that harms others and is evident. Please hear me, I am not downgrading the damage sin does to people. I am expressing concern for how the church as a whole is dealing with sin. Our response to sin as the church in the current climate is causing more sin😳🙏😥
There is also covert sin out there, not easily detected because manipulation is at work.
Yes, the person needs to be corrected and guided back to Jesus. However, we can be the best and most righteous on the outside, but our hearts are full of evil intent on the inside! Where is our compassion for one another? Where is our courage to confront the actual person in PRIVATE who is doing the sin/damages? Instead, people are passive-aggressive by gossiping and misleading on social media. Then, when someone wants to shout the sin to the rooftops on social media, the courage suddenly appears, but it’s misplaced. God is a God of order, not confusion. He does not give his people leeway to act whenever they feel like it.
1 John 1:8-10 NIV
[8] If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar, and his word is not in us.

Baptizing
Baptizing is part of the gospel. If you can’t submit to some water to declare you follow Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then how can you submit to him with anything else in your life? Take some time with the Lord, or seek godly counsel, to figure out what is hindering you if you truly believe you are saved.

Teaching comes from the Holy Spirit first
John 14:26 NIV
[26] But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
If you’re listening to someone who calls themselves a teacher, an elder, or a leader of the group/church, but the Holy Spirit keeps alerting you that their words and actions don’t match the word of God, have nothing to do with them. They are in their pride, corrupted by their own power, and have no self- control. That does not mean go onto social media to slander their name everywhere. I heard someone say that social media isn’t technically the church, so we don’t have to follow the instructions for confronting another Christian in sin or in a dispute. That is a lazy loophole to give authority to say, “I’m going to do whatever I want on social media with no consequences, but God sees everything, and he will hold people accountable. Also, we live in a digital world now, where church is held online. It is time to come to terms with the fact that the online Church must act accordingly, as Matthew 18:15-17 instructs. If you bypass verse 15, then you have disobeyed Jesus’s teachings and commandments.
Matthew 18:15-17 NIV
[15]  “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. [16] But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ [17] If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Who is our teacher?
Matthew 23:8-10, 12 NIV
[8]  “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. [9] And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. [10] Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.
[12] For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”


The reason so many Christian leaders are falling is that the church elevates them almost as a sacrifice. Like, here God, “This one is the best of us, we are going to hold them to a higher standard than ourselves. We will continue to egregiously sin, but since we follow that leader, then we look good on the outside, until we find fault in them or they offend us.” When this happens, the church as a whole experiences no change, no transformation, or no sanctification because they were only spectators. Walking with Jesus Christ calls everyone to be a participant in the Kingdom of God. And if your only contribution is yelling bad guy here, bad guy there like a clanging cymbal, you have NO LOVE.

Obey God
Obey God the Father and Jesus Christ’s commandments. We are called to obey God! If you are surrounded by people who call themselves Christians yet they are consumed by the media cycle, corruption, distorting the word of God, and have imposed self-appointed power over you, then you are not to submit to them. These are wolves in sheep’s clothing.
There are people out there who call themselves Christians and read the word of God, but they don’t read the word to get closer to God. They read the word to find ways to control others😥🙏. Sadly, they most likely do this because they feel, in their hearts, that they have no control over their own lives, for reasons that vary from person to person. When we read the word of God, what should happen is that we see that God has always been in control and works everything out for the good of those who love him. That should bring us peace, and we are then able to release the control over to Jesus Christ. If you don’t release the control, then you are in danger of lashing out at family, friends, and social media. You end up holding onto the control rather than the hem of Jesus’s garment.

Conspiracy Theories and Rabbit Holes are not of God
Lastly, the church as a whole (not everyone) has enmeshed themselves into the awakening of conspiracy theories/rabbit holes. This is NOT good for the Church! It is not our calling! Our calling is to make disciples, baptizing them, and leading them to Jesus’s teachings. We are not to lead people down rabbit holes and conspiracy theories!

I went through the conspiracy theory rabbit holes back in 2015-2019. There is no fruit there. Let it go 🙏 When I came back to Jesus in 2021, my mind was renewed 🥰🙏 I didn’t need the conspiracy theories anymore! I saw them for what they were. Yes, it’s evil, but we already know there is evil out there. Ask yourself: why do you keep going back to the next conspiracy theory or rabbit hole?

I believe the conspiracy theories being revealed are a setup to distract the church😥🙏
I leave you with this verse, hoping it helps you see that our minds should not be consumed by all that floats around on social media.
Philippians 4:8 NIV
[8] Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

That is what our minds should be focused on, which all those things described are what Jesus Christ is, so in other words, eyes, hearts, and minds on Jesus our Lord and Savior 🙌✨️💜
